About Foothills Wine Tours
I created Foothills Wine Tours to provide a high-end, fun and relaxing experience for wine enthusiasts. It’s a retirement passion project for me, owner and operator. After a rewarding 35-year career as an acturary and investment consultant, it was time to step away from the business travel and board meetings to focus on family and enjoying some big passions – wine and backpacking!

Following retirement in 2024 my family and I spent several months on the road enjoying wineries/tours and backpacking trips. We had the most amazing experiences… some of the best were sitting together with friends tasting great wines and taking in the stunning views of the vineyards. There was no better way to spend an afternoon, especially after enjoying a walk or hike!
We now realize how lucky we are to have our family and roots here in the foothills of North Carolina. The Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVAs have evolved into amazing wine destinations, featuring award-winning dry euro style wines and beautiful vineyards that highlight our lush Yadkin Valley foothills.
My mission is to share these fantastic wines and views with you in the same way our family enjoys them…traveling in a private group, visiting 2 or 3 vineyards to allow just enough time at each, and incorporating winery/vineyard tours where we can. So much fun! I look forward to serving as your tour guide.
